  • Statement on Jesuit Fr. Thomas Gannon

The USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus (Province) has notified Loyola University Chicago that the Province has recently investigated and found credible a new allegation of sexual misconduct of a Loyola student (age 17-18) by Jesuit Fr. Thomas Gannon (deceased) that occurred in 1977-1978 when Gannon was assigned to Loyola. For additional information regarding this matter, please contact Quentin Maguire, the Midwest Province's director of communications, at (773) 975-6914 or by email at UMINamesInquiry@Jesuits.org.

At Loyola, the safety, security, and well-being of our students, staff, and faculty are our highest priorities, and we take very seriously any reports of sexual misconduct. As always, any student, faculty, or staff member who has experienced sexual misconduct can contact the Office for Equity and Compliance and either make a report online or contact OEC at equity@luc.edu or by phone at (773) 508-7766. Additional resources are available for students through the University’s Wellness Center and the Office of the Dean of Students. Faculty and staff in need of resources are encouraged to utilize the University’s Employee Assistance Program.
